Terms and Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to epoxy flooring, flake flooring, garage flooring, commercial resin flooring, surface preparation, coating, repair, and related works carried out by Atlas Coating Pty Ltd.
By accepting a quotation, booking works, making payment, or allowing works to commence, the customer confirms they have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
Our aim is to provide a durable, professional flooring system and to clearly explain the important factors that can affect the final result, curing, maintenance, and long-term performance.
Quotation and Scope of Works
All works will be completed in accordance with the accepted quotation.
The quotation is based on the information available at the time of quoting, including the estimated floor area, substrate condition, access, selected coating system, finish, and visible defects.
Unless specifically stated in writing, the quotation does not include:
- Major concrete repairs
- Concrete levelling or screeding
- Correction or creation of floor falls
- Waterproofing
- Moisture barrier systems
- Removal of tiles, adhesives, membranes, thick coatings, or heavy contamination
- Structural crack repairs
- Joint replacement or joint sealing
- Coving, skirting, line marking, wall coatings, or additional works
- Moving furniture, equipment, tools, appliances, storage items, or vehicles
- If additional work is required due to unexpected site conditions, Atlas Coating will discuss this with the customer before proceeding where practical.
Existing Concrete and Surface Condition
Epoxy and resin flooring systems are applied over the existing concrete surface. The final appearance and long-term performance depend heavily on the condition of the concrete.
Atlas Coating will mechanically prepare the surface using suitable preparation methods, such as diamond grinding. However, coating systems cannot structurally repair defective concrete or prevent future slab movement.
The finished floor may still reflect existing concrete conditions, including cracks, repaired cracks, pinholes, surface undulations, concrete patching, grinding marks, previous slab defects, low points, and slight texture or gloss variation.
Roll coat and flake flooring systems generally follow the existing floor profile. If the customer requires a smoother, flatter, or more level finish, a self-levelling system or additional floor preparation may be required and must be quoted separately.
Falls, Drainage and Ponding
The applied flooring system follows the existing floor surface and does not correct inadequate falls, low points, or drainage issues unless this is specifically included in the quotation.
If falls to floor wastes are critical, they should be formed and checked in the concrete substrate before coating works begin.
Unless otherwise stated in writing, Atlas Coating does not accept responsibility for inadequate falls, ponding water, incorrect floor waste levels, existing low points, poor drainage, or water remaining on the surface after cleaning or wash-down.
Moisture, Rising Damp and Leaks
Moisture in or below the concrete slab can affect coating adhesion and may cause bubbling, blistering, whitening, osmosis, delamination, or other coating defects.
Atlas Coating does not accept responsibility for coating failure caused by rising damp, moisture vapour transmission, hydrostatic pressure, entrapped moisture, water leaks, plumbing leaks, stormwater ingress, or wet/insufficiently cured concrete.
If moisture is suspected, moisture testing or a moisture mitigation system may be recommended and quoted separately. Unless a suitable moisture barrier or moisture mitigation system is included in the accepted quotation, moisture-related failure is excluded from warranty.
Site Access and Customer Responsibilities
Before works commence, the customer must ensure:
- The work area is empty, dry, clean, and accessible
- Vehicles, tools, furniture, appliances, storage items, and loose objects are removed
- Power and lighting are available
- Water access is available if required
- The area is protected from rain, leaks, dust, pets, children, and other trades
- No other trades or occupants enter the work area during installation and curing
- Any known moisture, leaks, cracks, previous coatings, oil spills, contamination, or slab issues are disclosed before works begin
- If the area is not ready, access is delayed, or the works are interrupted by others, additional costs may apply.
Application Conditions
Coating performance can be affected by site and weather conditions, including temperature, humidity, airflow, condensation, moisture, dust, and ventilation.
High humidity, sudden temperature changes, condensation, or exposure to water before full cure can affect coating appearance and performance.
Atlas Coating will take reasonable care during application, but we cannot fully control environmental or site conditions outside our control.
Odour, Dust and Safety
Concrete grinding and coating works may create dust, noise, odour, and fumes.
Some coating products, including epoxy and polyaspartic clear coats, can produce a noticeable smell during application and the initial curing period. Safety information for polyaspartic products commonly refers to ventilation and avoiding vapour exposure during application.
Atlas Coating recommends that children, pets, sensitive persons, and unnecessary occupants stay away from the work area during preparation, application, and initial curing.
Where practical, the area should be well ventilated during and after coating application.
Curing and Return to Service
Newly applied coatings must be protected while curing.
Unless otherwise advised in writing, the following general timeframes apply:
- Light foot traffic: 24–48 hours after completion
- Light items: after approximately 2 days, provided items are lifted and placed carefully, not dragged
- Vehicle traffic: after approximately 5 days
- Wet cleaning or chemical exposure: avoid during the initial curing period unless advised otherwise
Curing times may vary depending on temperature, humidity, airflow, coating type, film thickness, and site conditions. Damage caused by early use, water exposure, chemical exposure, tyre contact, dust contamination, dragging items, or placing heavy objects too early is not covered under warranty.
Temperature, Chemicals and Harsh Use
Unless specifically confirmed in writing, the applied flooring system should not be exposed to continuous temperatures above 60°C, steam cleaning, boiling water, hot metal, welding sparks, strong acids, strong solvents, brake fluid, battery acid, fuel spills left uncleaned, harsh degreasers, or aggressive chemicals.
Atlas Coating should be notified before works commence if the floor will be exposed to heavy chemical use, high temperatures, wash-down areas, mechanical workshops, commercial kitchens, food processing, or other harsh service conditions. A different coating system may be required.
Payment Terms
Unless otherwise agreed in writing:
- Payment is due upon completion of the works
- Warranty is valid only after full payment has been received
- Approved variations are payable in addition to the quoted amount
- Atlas Coating may suspend or delay further works where payment has not been made in accordance with the agreed terms
Warranty
Atlas Coating provides a 5-year workmanship warranty on residnetial epoxy flooring installations, subject to full payment, suitable substrate condition, correct use, proper maintenance, and compliance with curing instructions.
This warranty is designed to give customers confidence in the workmanship provided by Atlas Coating while also clearly explaining the site and substrate conditions that are outside the control of the coating system.
What This Warranty Covers
This warranty covers workmanship defects resulting in:
- Delamination caused by installation error
- Lifting caused by installation error
- Peeling caused by installation error
If Atlas Coating determines that a valid warranty claim exists, our responsibility is limited to repairing or replacing the affected coating area, including reasonable coating materials and labour required for the approved repair.
Warranty repairs may not perfectly match the original colour, gloss, texture, or flake blend due to product batch variation, ageing, UV exposure, and normal wear.
Warranty Conditions
The warranty applies only where:
- Full payment has been received
- The floor has been used for its intended purpose
- The substrate was suitable for coating at the time of installation
- The floor has been allowed to cure before normal use
- The floor has been cleaned and maintained correctly
- The customer has followed Atlas Coating’s curing, cleaning, and maintenance instructions
Warranty Exclusions
The warranty does not cover damage, failure, or appearance issues caused by:
- Rising damp, moisture vapour, hydrostatic pressure, leaks, or water ingress
- Concrete cracking, slab movement, weak concrete, or substrate failure
- Existing contamination, including oil, grease, silicone, curing compounds, chemicals, or salts

Australian Consumer Law
This warranty is provided in addition to any rights the customer may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.
This wording is important because the ACCC confirms that consumer guarantees cannot be excluded, and warranty promises sit in addition to those legal rights.
Warranty Claims
Any warranty claim must be submitted to Atlas Coating in writing as soon as the issue is noticed.
The customer should provide:
- Name
- Project address
- Invoice or quote number
- Photos of the issue
- A short description of the concern
Atlas Coating must be given reasonable access to inspect the floor before any repair, modification, or third-party work is carried out.
Warranty claims may be rejected where the issue is caused by moisture, substrate condition, misuse, chemical exposure, poor maintenance, premature use, damage by others, or any excluded condition listed in this warranty.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Correct cleaning and maintenance will help protect the appearance, slip resistance, and long-term performance of your epoxy floor.
Epoxy and polyaspartic floors are durable, but they are not maintenance-free. Grit, harsh chemicals, tyre marks, oils, solvents, and poor cleaning methods can affect the finish over time.
Initial Curing Period
- Light foot traffic is allowed 24–48 hours after completion
- Light items may be moved back into the area after approximately 2 days, provided they are lifted and placed carefully, not dragged
- Vehicle traffic is allowed after approximately 5 days, subject to site conditions and curing
- Wet cleaning, chemical exposure, and heavy use should be avoided during the initial curing period
- Curing times may vary depending on temperature, humidity, airflow, coating type, film thickness, and site conditions.
Regular Cleaning
- Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove dust, grit, and abrasive dirt
- Mop with clean water and a suitable pH-neutral cleaner
- Use a microfibre mop, soft mop, soft broom, or non-abrasive cleaning pad
- Rinse detergent residue with clean water where required
- Clean spills promptly
- Test new cleaning chemicals in a small area before wider use
- Australian epoxy floor care guidance commonly recommends pH-neutral cleaners, regular removal of grit, prompt spill cleaning, and avoiding harsh acidic or alkaline products.
Cleaners and Methods to Avoid
Do not use:
- Acidic cleaners
- Solvent-based cleaners
- Alcohol-based cleaners
- Bleach
- Vinegar
- Citrus-based cleaners
- Harsh alkaline cleaners
- Abrasive pads
- Wire brushes
- Steam cleaners unless confirmed suitable
- Strong degreasers without testing first
Harsh cleaners such as bleach, chlorine, sodium hydroxide, strong alkaline cleaners, acidic cleaners, or corrosive products can damage the coating and may affect warranty coverage.
Spill Management
Clean spills as soon as practical, especially:
- Oil
- Fuel
- Brake fluid
- Solvents
- Chemicals
- Acids
- Degreasers
- Staining agents
Leaving chemicals, oils, or staining agents on the coating for extended periods may affect the surface and may not be covered under warranty.
Protecting the Floor
To reduce the risk of scratches, dents, or surface damage:
- Lift heavy items instead of dragging them
- Use protective pads under jacks, benches, machinery, shelving, and heavy equipment
- Avoid dragging sharp or metal objects across the floor
- Use mats where suitable at high-wear entry points
- Avoid placing hot items directly on the coating
- Keep the floor free from grit and abrasive dirt
Garages, Workshops and Vehicle Areas
For garages and workshops:
- Avoid parking vehicles on the floor before the recommended curing period has passed
- Clean oil, fuel, brake fluid, and tyre residue promptly
- Avoid leaving harsh degreasers or chemicals sitting on the surface
- Use protective pads under car jacks, motorbike stands, toolboxes, and heavy equipment
- Lift and place heavy objects instead of dragging them
Commercial and High-Use Areas
For commercial, workshop, kitchen, or industrial areas, cleaning frequency may need to be increased depending on use.
High-use environments may require daily sweeping, regular mopping, suitable degreasing, and periodic inspection of wear areas. Always test cleaning chemicals before wider use and contact Atlas Coating if unsure whether a cleaner is suitable.
